OTG is the ideal place to hold a birthday party or celebration that’s exciting and different. Very popular with all ages from 6 upwards.
The hire and ride standard price is is £8 per hour for unde 16’s and £10 for over 16’s. This includes hire of board, pads and helmet, instruction and use of all facilities. For party bookings we recommend a two hour session. If you bring a group of 8 or more we can offer the special price of £13 for a two hour session for children or £16 for over 16’s.
A qualified instructor will teach your group all the basic techniques until they are ready to go all the way from the top of the hill. The instructor session lasts roughly between 30 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the group’s ability. Once you’ve got the hang of mountainboarding you can jump on the trailer for a lift to the top! If you have mastered the beginners slope the instructor may recommend other tracks to try, such as the snake run on the other side of the hill. Those who prefer can stay on the beginner’s slope, building confidence and maybe trying some of the mini obstacles when you’re ready!
Our instructors are available at all times, if you need further advice. When using the tracks on the far side the lift truck driver is there to supervise safety and provide tips where necessary.
You are welcome to bring a picnic for before or after the session and enjoy the sunshine in the reception area or campsite (BBQs in campsite only please). If the sun doesn’t appear, you can use our indoor seating area with seating for 24. We now have a cafe at OTG so hot food can be purchased, cold drinks, crisps and snacks are also available – and tea and coffee for mums and dads.
Groups
OTG welcomes many different groups each year from schools, youth clubs, holiday schemes, scouts and guides, social clubs and specialist groups.
All details for the booking re as for party bookings, see above. Groups of up to 50 can be catered for by prior arrangement.
A half-day (4 hours) is enough for most beginners. The session can be split into 2 sessions (before and after lunch, for example) or as suits the group, by prior arrangement.
Camping is available for overnight stays, and if you want to extend your visit we can recommend the two other local mountainboard centres –
Bugs Boarding at Maisemore,
Gloucestershire and Court Farm at Tillington, Hereford
Each centre has its own unique qualities for a variety of mountain board experiences.
There are also plenty of different activities to try in the local area including grass sledging, horse riding, swimming etc, and many beautiful walks including of course the breathtaking Malvern hills .
Payment
No booking fee or deposit simply pay on the day. At this time we are unable to take credit or debit cards so please arrange to pay by cash or cheque. An invoice can be raised if required by your group/organisation; please request this when booking.
Clothing
Please tell your group to wear sensible clothing, appropriate to the weather, and be prepared for possible grass stains! Cropped tops, skirts and short shorts not recommended. Shoes should fit and fasten properly – trainers or walking boots are best. No sandals, wellies or flip flops please! Jewellery should be removed and items such as keys and mobile phones should not be carried in pockets so are best left at home if not essential.
Signing in
A responsible (!) adult will be required to sign in all under 16’s. We need to know of any pre-existing medical or other conditions. Alternatively, you can download a copy of the disclaimer here and ask parents and guardians to complete one for each child before you come.
Weather
We will do our best to honour your booking whatever the weather but please be aware that this is England, and if the ground gets too soft and slippery then the boards will not run, and safety considerations may arise. This is particularly true early in the season if the ground has not dried after the winter. Showers and light rain won’t frighten us off in the summer, but periods of prolonged heavy rain may cause a problem. Please remember that we have to live with British weather and you should have a contingency plan if the weather’s very wet. We recommend that you call us 12-24 hours before your booking if the weather has been bad.
